GS KIDD WORKING BEE - 6th June 2010

On Sunday the 6th June a group of Tri Club members and friends got together at GS Kidd Memorial School to replace the “Soft Fall Play Area” surrounding border with a new, safe plastic border.

The work took about 2 hours and knowing we have helped someone less fortunate than ourselves is a wonderful reward for our efforts.

SYDNEY HALF MARATHON - Sunday 16th May 2010

Eleven Gunnedah runners travelled to Sydney to test themselves in the Sydney half marathon..

In good running conditions Pete Loveridge had an great run to be 10th in his division in a time of 1.14.27, after winning the Newcastle half marathon early in the year. Jon Renton supporting his Royal Foundation trust fund for prem babies was next with a great run of 1.22.49.

Cath Murray 1.36.20 set herself up for fast time by running first 5 klm in 21 min for a 7th in her age division.
Anthony Martin dropped a minute from last year’s time at 1.36.28, beaten by only 8 seconds in his personal dual with Cath (very frustrating).

Tim Duffy allegedly ran 1000 ks in training for 1.45.02. Claire Sheridan really pushed it to tenth in her age division with a great 1.45.47 for her first half marathon. Lizzy Gordon finished in 1.47.35 a good time considering her career has taken priority over training.

Andrew Hingham trained occasionally for a 1.48.41 and was saving his energy for the real competition in the afternoon at the bar. Tammy Sheridan really tried with a 2.14.57, running at 6 min/k pace. Liz Higham after a great first lap succumbed to a knee injury and could not finish.

Cath Martin pretended to be ready for only half the race laps with her training distance being 10 k sessions, and then surprised everyone by completing her first half marathon in 2.28.06.

After the half marathon team members competed in a serious competition with Tim Duffy’s friends and family from Dubbo. A “Man of the Match” performance from Andrew Higham saw Gunnedah to victory over Dubbo in a tight and sometimes brutal affair.
